Buffet Restyle

I am in love with mercury glass.  Around Christmas time, I busted out every piece I own to adorn my living room and dining room.  But, I'm afraid I've allowed myself to get a little stuck on mercury glass.  Like, might-need-to-join-a-recovery-group-about-it stuck.

Yesterday, my decorating conscience tapped it's fanciful finger on my shoulder and told me it was time to put the mercury glass away for a bit.  So, I went to the closets looking for something to take it's place.  {Side note for you, reader, I have way too much crap!}  There have been a few pictures in catalogs recently that have caught my eye because of their eclectic mixture of pieces, textures and sizes.  Not sure yet how I feel about the updated wine bar/buffet in our entry way, but it was worth a shot:

Before, the space was a bit winter-ish, and MAYBE even a bit dull.  Okay, it was boring.  But mercury glass made it somewhat better, right?  It's time for some color and life, I get it.  Time to try something totally different and {hopefully} coax spring out of it's rainy, thundery, soggy shell.

What do you think?  Do you prefer the glam, monochromatic vibe of the mercury glass and mirrored pillars, or is the casual, textured look more your style?
